I have an avenger 8x8 and have had to get my carb cleaned atleast 2-3 times. Each time it runs great for awhile. I admit that it has been sitting stagnant for probably a couple months without running and i realize that is not a good thing. Prior to installing the newly cleaned carb the last time I syphoned the gas out of the tank, put fresh gas in, and syphoned it out again two times. Is it common for these carbs to clogg if they sit with gas in them for a couple months? (I don't seem to have that problem with lawn mower or 4wheeler) Or would it most likely be some kind of bad gas, etc in the tank? It seems like the tank isn't easy to take out of these to properly clean it or is it easier than it looks? Any kind of advise it much appreciated.

I would pull the tank and clean it. I can't remember the product I used last time but it involved putting a bunch of nuts in the tank with it and shaking it around. Also change you fuel lines and filter. I bought a ful box of line from a shop for less than what it would have cost to buy the proper amount by the foot.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

hi, what i use in my 69&70 skidoo's is muratic acid. you have to be carefull with it. it smokes a little when it hits rust and you just shake it pour it out and rince the tank out with warm soapy water. works good on those, my argo tank is plastic so i don't worry there, but good luck

Thanks for the suggestions. Are the tanks difficult to pull? I haven't really looked into it but at glance it seems it WOULDN'T be very easy to do? Appeared like it was riveted in there or somthing and would have to disassemble the top half of the argo?.. maybe i'm wrong I haven't looked at it in some time.Last edited by vipercwf; 06-21-2011, 01:31 PM.

Put on a new fuel filter, one with a large filtering area and paper element (not a screen). Then put new fuel line on from there to the carb. I've found some of the fuel line gets dry and small pieces come off as the gas flows through. I wouldn't bother with the tank as long as it's not just loaded with debris.Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

The new fuels are bad for these small engines.drain the tank and put fuel stabilizer mixed with your fuel and also go to a motocycle shop
and get some additive.you need to run this stuff all the time. The ethanol in fuel reaks havic on these small carbs.i did this to my
6x6 and my honda 50 and both have had no more fuel issues. Hope this helps.

Be carefull with not overdoing it with the stabilizer. I just bought a Max IV that was never driven, it had 1.7 hours on it. But the siphon line inside the tank was melted into a playdough consistancy. It was the factory hose and it said fuel hose on it, the hoses outside the tank are fine. The only thing I can think of is some one added too much stabilizer without much gas in the tank, it sat for 2 years and the alcohol melted it.-----\
