  • Tecumseh Carb and Service Manual

Hey everyone. I just picked up a 1980 Argo 6x6 a couple of days ago and am in the process of getting her running better. I cleaned the carb all out and it has a leaky float. The local Tecumseh dealer can get me a float but he said it's rediculously priced at's $62 which I'm really not hoping to spend on a carb that's that old. I'm in Ontario and I know I can get them out of the states for closer to $20 but that means waiting on playing with my new toy!

Finally my question.....Does anybody know of any bolt on carbs that I can throw on there that are easier to get parts for? There's a local snowmobile junker in town so I was wondering if I could just throw a snowmobile carb in it's place?

The second question is I've done a search for a service manual for the argo and I've seen a few guys say that they have one on .pdf but I havn't been able to find any links to download. Does anybody know a spot?

    Thanks!

Hi Cameron, welcome to the site. For the manuals, do a search here on the site with the keyword "manual" in the Argo forum and you should get some results. Also, if you will look in the "Links" section of the site there are some external links there: 6 Wheeler Links - Argo Links - 6x6 World

Hi Mike, Thanks for the links.

I had tried searching for manuals and have found the parts manual and owners manual but am looking for a service manual. From the search a few people have said they have it in other posts but nobody gave a link. I'll just message them directly and see if they still have it. I was just seeing if anybody on here had a link to one online rather than trying to e-mail a 12mb file.

I've had no luck finding an alternative carb for it so I bit the bullet and ordered the float so I'm sure once I get it in the mail and get the engine running I'll have some more questions for the forum.
