i purchased an 8hp vanguard used to put in my max the plug for the voltage regulator has 2 wires and they didnt give me the regulator, i have the original regulator that came with the 440 2stroke but it has 3 wires 2 yellow and a black, could i make this one wrk? also and wiring diagrams of this engin also throttle and choke linkage pics some of it is missing and i dont know what i need, thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Go to the Briggs website Lawn Mower Parts & Small Engine Parts by Briggs & Stratton and type in your engine model and type codes. They have manuals that you can download for free.It's all just nuts and bolts.

I would buy the correct regulator for your engine. the one from your 2 stroke might work, but it could also fry everything behind the flywheel. the briggs part is about $65. if you fry the stator, your looking at the $65 for the regulator and something like $120 for the stator, plus the labor of having to remove the flywheel, starter and associated parts to replace the stator and correctly route the wiringA well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
