  • Conversion in progress RI wiring diagram please

    Ok folks,

I have my Briggs 18 in my Attex. I purchased a Max IV wiring harness with key and everything. I read a post stating that the diagram was available through RI, but I do not have one and cannot find a briggs diagram utilizing the 7 post switch that RI uses. Does anyone have a copy of the wiring from RI? I need to figure out where all these wires go and I am simply flustered without the proper diagram. I don't want to ruin my new engine before I get to drive it.

hay Drew are you shore it's 7 pin and not 6?
my old switch was 5 and I had to install the 6 pin that came with my motor.

I did sum further cheking on the switch and it must be
"Ignition Type: Magneto, No. Of Positions:4, No. Of Terminals: 7, 5/8" mounting stem"
      is this corect? 430-674_2_C.jpg

Yup thats the one. I'm down to the four wires at the end of my max wiring harness. Everything up front is sorted. Added an ammeter and a cig lighter due to the harness having spots for them. There is a spot for an hour meter too, but i got a tiny tach with one so i'm hoping it all works without that hooked up.

I know this is not for a max but it should give you an idea what pins to use.

Thanks, that should help a bit. Sorry to hear the roads were flooded out for you trip on sunday. We can bring your windshield and install it busco if you want. Getting Big VIII home is all you though. You should have towed the timex as far as possible and then driven that the rest of the way. You could have just used it like a trailer on the way back. It wiuld have only taken an extra couple of days to get there and back, but then I could use the story to help reiforce how practical and usefull a fleet of amphibs really is.

I made it up there and looked at the Big VIII and it's a grate project but I don't think I would have bean able to complete it.
I think my next project should be either a max IV or hustler.

Finally got the wiring sorted on the t-hawk. I was able to test fire it today and was very pleased with how easy it started up. She sounded ok. It could be a little quiter, but it will do for now. Still have a few more things to do before the test run, but she should be dialed in by busco, and maybe even make an appearance at phillipsburg.

Thanks jeff. I tried using the mobile youtube to do it, but it must not work the same and getting my wife to come off her macbook for 5 minutes is harder than convincing her the garage is supposed to be filled with toys and cars are supposed to be in the driveway.

Finished up the engine swap today. Much of the day was spent just cleaning everything up and making sure no detail was overlooked. All I have to say now is, holy crap this thing can move. Its a day and night difference in driving the machine. I feel much more confident that the power will be there when i need it and it has so far. Tomarrow I'm going to pull my rear axle that has a tendency to break and go make about 3 extra's out of good old 4140 just in case i need a few at busco. Who know's, I may even still make it to phillipsburgh for the rodeo before busco.

Nice work, Drew! I remember when I got my 23HP Vanguard in my Hustler BIGFOOT.......such a huge difference between the old flat twin 18HP Briggs I/C! I've done some amazing things that I never thought was possible with my one Max II with the 18HP Vanguard, so with an Attex that is around 150lbs lighter than a Max II, you must really be moving right along with it.
