jlo 440 trouble please help

I just got a 6 wheel max I have a rockwell jlo 440 I want to drop in it but I have a problem its only banging on one cylinder I switched coils around and the other coil works but I just don't get it what could this be

is it sparking on bolth plugs? tell me everything you know. I love a good chalenge

The very first thing is to put brand new spark plugs in the machine. A spark plug can throw a nice spark outside of the cylinder, and throw a feable spark when it's installed. NGK B8ES's are a good start. What's the compression on each cylinder? If you try new plugs, and compression on each cylinder is OK, you should take a look at the breaker points behind the recoil, behind the flywheel. They'll wear out of adjustement, and may not be making/breaking contact appropriately.

Check your compression, and try the plugs first. Then we'll dive in from there...

It will spark on both plugs if you connect the two black wires that come off the mag but it just seems to rob the fire because the plug will fire at the same time it has great compression good coils my thinking would be a pickup coil or a condensor I've cleaned the points

Try running it with the wiring harness disconnected(nothing has to be connected to run). To shut these old motors down you ground out both black wires. Good luck

Thats how I've been running it its not in my max yet it only fires on the one cylinder I switch the wires to the other coil ad that coil will fire idk where to start maybe the condenser or pickup coil

Take your recoil off and check that the points are not stuck open or cloesd up(I have had it happen both ways). Should be easy on bench.I have a new pickup coil if you need one.(probably won't)

I tested the points adjusted them no sticking everything has good contact is there a way to bench test a condenser or pick up

If you have a ohm meter test each black wire from the stator(2) and see if each reading is the same???

So I figured it out one of my condensers were bad I changed it and fired it up and holy crap it sounds mean it sounds a little out of time though minor backfires but it has old plugs and incorrect Oil mix but it runs good thanks for the help guys ill post pics and updates on it as it comes along
