  • Increasing RPM on Avenger non EFI

Hellow, I new to the site, I would like to increase the RPM of the Kohler non EFI engine just slightly for a bit more power and higher top speed. There apears to be two adjustment screws at the base of the throttle cable, One would apear to alow less slack in the cable, but would this increase RPM? The other pointing toward the engine? Where is the throttle stop?

I have a oldschool 80s model Argo IC that has been modified with a honda 630 V-twin engine, it has no throttle stop, tuned carb, no filter and strait pipes it rips, never have to take it out of second gear even with the tracks on! The Avenger belongs to my dad who is sick of me pasing him at speed with my old IC with super tracks on.

    Thanks for any help!

Carefull with that, I've heard of a few guys that now have cylinder head leaks on their Kohlers. Not sure if it's related, but they were also looking to bump up RPM's on their machines.
Sounds like you have the governor bypassed on your machine.

Rock Doc, thanks for the tip, Do you know of a safer way to getting a little more power out of this engine? Like I mentioned my old argo is beat and ugly, but with 40hp it makes this kohler seem like a dog.

Running without the filter will shorten the life of the Honda faster than you can shift it into low......

          Try this: http://midwestsupercub.net/MWSC%20Catalog.pdf

These guys are great with the Kohler engines. Now i don't know how much they know about then Aegis engine but they may can help. I don't recommend tinkering with these engines, they are set up from the factor to last a long time. But if you dare to venture these people can probably help. Good luck and let us know how it comes out.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Sorry, I can't help you with that. The vast majority of my experience with Kohlers is in work machines. I can't mess with those too much.

I run the old argo in winter only when there is lots of snow and no dust, with no problems, Been like that since 2006 when I put the engine in. The Honda 20.0 is all done up doubling the hp and reving way past its intended max RPM I'm surprized how well its holding up so far, no blow by no oil consumtion, but I run synthetic diesel oil in it and change it often.
