  • Hustler starter solenoid

    Hello,

Does anyone know where to get a new starter solenoid. The number stamped on top is F-1900-AA. I found one used one on ebay, but no new ones. Is there another one that will work?

    Thanks

    Phil

Go to a boat shop. I think I read that its for a late 70s Evinrude.
    Read about it HERE

Go to your local NAPA and part #ST82SB it is a 4 prong, but you can wire it like a 3 prong and it will still work just fine.

Far left goes to starter, yellow jumper middle-left, and from battery on right.

If you just ask for a "Ford style solenoid", most auto parts stores should give you one like Dan's picture.

There is no Z in Diesel!!

          Thanks guys!
Well, not the solenoid. I can unhook the wire from my wench and the motor will start. Hook the wire from the wench back up (red wire to the positive post) it wont start - just a spark at the positive terminal. What in the world? What's happening to make this happen, I just don't understand electricity at all.

Dang Dan67, your machine looks brand new in that compartment with the solenoid!!!

          Thanks

          Phil

It sounds like you have a bad connection on the positive battery terminal. You more than likely jostled it a bit when you unhooked/hooked the positive lead to the wInch, and cause a better connection to the solenoid. Take both terminals off of the battery, clean them judiciously (the battery terminals AND the ends of the cables) with a wire brush or some sandpaper, and hook them back up tightly.
