  • fuel delivery problems ....i think

    I have a 2007 Argo Avenger 700 Carb. type

It started coughing and sputtering... Then quit. I changed plugs, and when checking fuel filter found it not full. I blew out the line and now have a flow to filter. But I do not believe I am getting the draw up to carb. Perhaps a vacumn problem? Is there a pump anywhere? If I poor gas in carb, it runs.

Any ideas...I need it running to clean my drive way and to make me smile again.

Start by cleaning the carburetor. Pull the top end off of it and clean the ports with some carb cleaner and/or a bristle from a wire brush. Make sure that they are all clear. It doesn't take much contaminant to clog those tiny holes up.

I'd check if it has an external fuel pump, probably on top of the fuel tank. Pull the line off and see if its pumping when you turn on the ignition switch.

            Do you have a manual?

Yes, I have an Argo Manual, but it does not show the carb??? I took the mechanical fuel pump off to check out. Of course lost the spring and some of the little o rings. (also lost a screwdriver in there somewhere...That is one hungry little engine) Went to argo dealer and no fuel pump avail. I will have to order from somewhere and get delivered this week. Needless to say, a little frustrated with my own mechanical aptitude, so have not tackled the carb yet.

Keep yah posted. More snow on its way so need this running and plowing.

check the tube coming out of the tank. I had a six wheeler that was having problems and when \i pulled that tube it was partialy plugged.

You can get an electric fuel pump from an auto store that pumps about 3 lbs pressure and lots of volume for about 50 bucks. I made the mistake of
ordering one from argo to the tune of about 300 bucks. I guess live and learn. i'd get a clear inline filter to go in front of the pump while I was at it. That way you turn the key on, let it sit for a few seconds while it pumps up, turn the key and it's running. Easy on the starter.

Thanks again guys... I put a make-shift spring back in the fuel pump, put some silicone in screw holes instead of the o rings. Pulled and blew out the carb. All in all, found nothing wrong. Fired it up and its just like new. go figure... My screw driver is still MIA. I will take your advise and pickup an electric pump and wire it in somewhere, I guess to a keyed power line near the fire wall.

                  Thanks
