Hello everyone,
IT has been a VERy long time since i posted last. I am still messing with my BIGMAX. I finally have all of the parts to put the engine back together (JLO 440). I have the engine together but cannot figure out how to time the stator plate. My Flywheel has NO marking on it at all. I removed the #1 head after torquing it all down..so that I could time the thing based on the manual (Rotate crank counterclockwise. The points should open at .083-.103 inches. This is based on the counterweight assembly being over-ridden using a pin to lock out the timing gear cam on the flywheel.
So, the question is: Do I just make a mark on the flywheel when the piston is at TDC...and mark the flywheel based on the fan housing datums for Ign, Start or run?
I hope this all makes sense..it is partially paraphrased from the rockwell engine repair manual and timing section.
I really hope to get this thing going...it has been 2 years and hundreds of dollars...just sitting making me pretty frustrated.
Thanks
Chris
