  • Tachometer for v-twin

Any one know of a good quality Tachometer that will work with the Briggs vangards? I have not had good luck with their "tiny tach" inductive unit; it seems to register very slowly.

look in max springer thread...about half way through someone made suggestion.......i was thinking maybe a motorcycle tach or 4 stroke snowmobile, quad or side by side tach....i know what you mean about the digital unit....although they make good hour meters

I use this one, like it cause it only goes to eight. Can use the bracket or stick it in the dash. Might be available in different bezel, also comes in a smaller size I think. NOT a lot of tachs work with the briggs ignition system.

3-3/8" Tachometer (DIS) - EQUUS PRODUCTS, INC.

The Jr Dragster (not sure of brand) tach is popular, an analog with quick response. There's a couple of good digital units out there, with all kinds of inputs and readouts. Input exhaust gas temp and all kinds of stuff, review rpm and elapsed time.. more suited to the racers that us.. well maybe in training for the water race at the Ledges?

Jerry's is less $, mines about $80, the Jr Dragster is $125

Anything to talk about with the big block?

Thanks for the info, I will check these out. That Equus looks nice, and I like the fact that it doesn’t go over 8k; the jr dragsters are 10K. It can be hooked up for single pulse?
Still waiting on a clutch from comet and an exhaust collector to finish the header on the big block. Everything else is done, and I got the 25" rawhide III's on Matt O's 9" rims in yesterday...these things are bigger than my 26" supergrips! His wheels are really nice; they have super aggressive bead locks, and it looks like you could run these things with 0 psi and not have a problem. Really nice guy to deal with.
