  • Suzuki G10 or G13 aka swift/metro engines... or something better if we can!

Hello all, i think it is time to open up a thread on the 1.0 L and 1.3 litre geo metro, suzuki swift, fire fly and any other names we can come up with. I now have in my possession a good manual and would like to share a few insights:

    1. Pre 96 non automatic is best. AKA this is before the OBD 2 specif actions came out, and avoiding the automatic deletes TWO sensors in the tyranny.

If anyone wants the manual, PM me and ill email it to you pronto. I submitted a copy to Mike to put up on the manuals section.

I did check into the subaru justy engine, but it has an iron block which is too heavy

Time to get this party started. It is a maual 93 red geo metro with TBI and a 1.Ol engine. Not too shabby for 300 bucks. Guy threw in two electric fans and two mufflers, all off of jeep cherokes. Now it is time to figure out how to make it run LOL

Too bad about the subaru - there must be one that is all aluminum?? It would be nice to have the low center of gravity with the flat engine.

Hi Spookum, I would like a copy of your manual. I have a catagator with a huge 24hp kohler in it. must weight a ton. I have been looking for metro to get cheap. want the whole car I think so I get the cooling system and mounting to see how I would put it all together. what is your plan of putting one in ? I have been wondering what year would be the best to install.

          thanks
          Mike

The manual is on its way. (hopefuly) From what i can tell the engine guts are all the same. They are "non interference" so if you bust a timing belt, it wont blow the engine up. You can use the carberated version of the engines, but i want to learn about fuel injection, which is why im going to get a newer one. I have stayed away from automatic transmissions becasue they have load sensors in them, that could screw up the computer. Also, in 1996 geo metros switched over to OBD II diagnostics. It is no big deal, but again, more sensors and i think (from what i have been told) there is one in the catalitc converter that becomes problematic if you decide to cut the cat out. They also lost some power that year and later due to smog stuff. I defanitly want the whole car. There is SO MUCH to use and i know i would forget something if i tried it at a wrecking yard. You may also want to consider the 1.3L (aka four cylender) I really wanted one like that but found the 1.0L (3 cylender first). I also know that you can really hop both engines up, they are used in sport tuning and ultra light aircraft, and some air boats!

Here is the aplicable ECM or PCM Pin-out for 1992-1995 metros/swifts/sprints/fire flys. It is strictly for the 1.0L engines though... Enjoy!
