Many members have used those clone engines in bigger and heavier machines than a gotcha. I've heard they are easy to get more HP out of and they seem to hold up alright especially with a few mods. I was actually thinking along those lines for my Gotcha build.
I bought mine like 6-7 or so years ago from max tools and paid something like $360 with free shipping. Its interesting to see the price go down on these engines.
I do absolutely nothing with small engines personally but on the remote sites I'm usually at, everything has to be engine powered. (not to mention, working in China these clones are the front line engine and on almost every piece of equipment)
They seem to work very well and in the temperature extremes from the -30's to about +130 they are pretty reliable. The only modifications I see are wrap around block heaters and starting fluid for the winter months ( but thats the norm for about every gasoline engine and most diesels out there) and a greatly oversized air filter because of the dust in the summer.
If I had need of an engine for something, I wouldnt hesitate to purchase one.
