Tonight I had the breather off to clean bad gas out of the carb. Another story. I dropped one of the bolts and it was wedged between the flywheel. I did not know this bolt was wedged until later. The engine turned over then acted like it locked up. I started taking the engine apart , when I got the crank cover off I found the bolt wedged between the flywheel. I got it out and put everything back together. The engine will turn over with the rope but now the starter and the headlights donot work. The winch wired direct to the battery does work. I found two fuses on the firewall under the dash but neither were blown. What has happened? Solenoid?? Actually the headlights horn and starter do nothing .. Please help.

i just did something similar trying to adjust the idle. locked my engine up when i shut her down. cleaned the flywheel magnets and replaced the stator and runs fine. the only difference is i get only 12 volts on the amp meter instead of 13. something before. i have two magnets on the flywheel with bad damage and the rest were fine. i would have replaced the flywheel but can't get that part anywhere. i have no advice as to the electrical problem but just wanted to let you know i feel your pain.

Check the connections on the switch and maybe a fuseable link on the main power wire.
The solenoid should have power on the large terminal you can jump to the small terminal (to bypass the keyswitch)
And see if it clicks or cranks the starter.
The ground could have lost its contact if it got hot.
Check from + on the battery to the - on the frame and starter housing.Last edited by Bazooo guy; 04-12-2012, 09:29 AM.
