Hi, I recently got my fathers 1984 argo (has the Kohler twin 17 series II engine). At first it would just crank and crank and crank. I bought points, a condenser and an air filter. I first started with the removal of the gas tank, ran new lines, filter and put fresh gas in. Still just cranking. So next I tried the new condenser. It fired up but it surges, engine rpm that is. Just wondering if I should check the fuel pump for flow and/or carburetor. Any help on where to check next would be great. Thanks.

Yes check the carb...maybe take it apart and give it a good cleaning.....also check to see if the fuel pump is working properly....may consider an electric low psi pump from princess auto (2-5psi)....
Were in NL are you located....I am in the whitbourne area....Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

Know where Lethbridge is...Orginally from Port Rexton.....just down the road...lol
You could always buy an electric fuel pump and put it somewhere in line after your filter.....My 02 conquest has the electric pump..my 89 6x6 has the pulse fuel pump....It is not hard to install.....
If you have any questions then let me know....Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
