2 stroke header wrap

Has anyone wrapped thier 2 stroke pipes with exhaust wrap tape to help cut down on heat?I have seen this done on 4 strokes but didnt know about 2 strokes.

I know Attex used to use a wrap on the exhaust flex (probably asbestos), and I'm pretty sure a few of the other manufacturers did too. It did help some, but many times the body showed signs of stress from the heat anyway.
