Max II on the Chassis Dyno

Slow day at the shop so we threw Luke's Max II with 18HP Vanny on the chassis dyno. Any guesses on power at the wheel?

I would guess 8-10HP at the wheels without knowing what motor is in the Max.

18HP stock Vanguard twin. I will post a screen shot of the graph showing the HP and torque when I am back at the shop. Luke is working on posting the video we took.

I'm with Mike..... 18hp will be the bare motor with air filter and muffler removed.....probably more like 16 net HP. Add in the losses of the belt, trans, chains etc and 8 hp may be wishful thinking.

Now you are going to have to pull the motor and dyno it......maybe you have a good one putting out more than 18hp.

I have a video uploaded. We even took an air fuel reading to make sure it was running perfect. I think we should have a 6x6 dyno day!!!

Here is a screen shot. The numbers you are seeing have a 13% correction factor to simulate what you would see on a DynoJet dyno as that is the low cost dyno most people have access to. Our DynoDynamics dyno reads actual horsepower and is regarded as the most accurate chassis dyno for tuning. The real test is in comparing changes or other vehicles on our dyno. I will get the Max IV on when it is back together. I just put the tracks back on the Bigfoot or I would throw it on quick. Maybe if it doesn't sell I can pull the tracks and do a run as it has a stock 18HP Vanny also.

Thanks for posting this. That was fun to watch (and guess). Plus, that gives some really good data for the losses we actually see through all of the drivetrain like Jim mentioned.
