Starter ring gear

Hello everyone, I have a question I'm hoping someone has had some experience with , can the starter ring gear be taken off and flipped over. The ring gear is pretty rounded off on the outside was just wondering if it can be flipped over? Thanks everyone!

Ring gears on automotive engines can be flipped. Small engines are sometimes directional with beveled teeth on one side to aid engagement of the starter drive. Some on briggs are rivited to the flywheel and only fit one way. If the ringgear will drive off and looks like both sides are the same flip it. just heat till it will fry spit and drop on and set with a flat punch. Two propane torches will give enough heat to install one. Good luck
