400 chief no spark

Attex with jlo 440 just rebuilt with new stator. spliced wires by color, spark on both jugs with manual start.when I plug in the harness on machine for elec start only fires on non pto side. I have never run this machine after purchase.any thoughts? Randy

Clean the contact points, maybe weak external coils, or the condensers might need replaced. Maybe even put new spark plugs/spark plug wires.

Thanks JP but the stator was nos from Don with points & condensers.it fires just fine when the body harness is not plugged in.the only wire that does anything I think is the brown.maybe one of the yellows is not opening from the switch.

Sounds like there's a short in the harness.
