  • ATTEX 300 with JLO 297 - Tag # 48742

Hello 6'ers - Got me a Jlo question. This Attex has a 297 in it. Got the ATTEX last week and has no spark - hasnt run in years I guess - but -very cool looking lines on this Amphib

I've pulled the flywheel - ( had to make a puller ) came off ok. ( hooray - I read some horrible stories so I mustve gotten lucky with the penetrating oil. But I fear that pen oil made it's way into the shaft bearings and I'm wanting to relube them just incase

    Just wondering about...
the bearings How do they get grease or oil or are they sealed? Has anyone had to replace them - bing a 2 stroke - I guess they get oil via the mixes gas but I am a Newbe to the JLO engine

the windings ohms ?? Any guys out there have advice on how to check the coils behind the flywheel

    Does the tag ( # 48742 ) indicate it's a 74?

Hello amphib brothers - Just wanted to post a thank you for all the guys who keep this site going.

My Attex is now up and running - I was looking through all my questions since I bought this ATTEX last year.

This site helped me rebuild the engine, carb, wiring harness, tranny and kept me sane all this time.

I'm very impressed with the speed of this JLO 300 and thanks to all those who said ..

The Jlo is a good engine and will leave the Max in the dust ( true and I still have the max for cruising the woods.

Thanks to those who hung in there with me on the carb issues, starter issues, frame issues, etc.

DOnt tear into the body or paint the ATTEX body or use gunky junk to fix tub cracks- I was so close to doing irreversible damage

It's funny looking back - all the good pointers you more experienced dudes have

All I have left on this ATTEX is tire and shaft upgrades -

I'm thinking I need an Amphicat or Hustler now

Is it offensive to say Argo's are for yuppies haha - only kidding Argo peeps

    Rock on

That's great! I'm really glad to hear you had such a positive outcome with your Attex restoration. I'd highly recommend a Hustler over an Amphicat. I've driven and worked on both, and a Hustler 950 is a million times better than any Amphicat. Get a Hustler 945, 950, or if you could find one, a 980 BIGFOOT. The Amphicat has dinky axles 3/4", dinky chains, a super thin and brittle (and very prone to damage) ABS body. The Hustler has big axles, big chains, the bulletproof T-20 transmission, and a big thick HDPE body with excellent looking lines and 4 passenger capability. The Amphicat can't compare to it.
