I found a dirt cheap deal on tires they are 2 for the price of 1!! They are made by kenda tires 21x11x8 bar tread style (power trac II knockoffs) this company sells them for only $34.48 per tire (new ones). The best part is that the shipping is only $9.95 for the whole order of tires. I got 6 shipped to my door for only $245.00, let me know what you guys think, here is the info how to get them (Travis said he has over 60 in stock)

Hey Chris,

Since you have 12" rims, that opens up your tire choices considerably. If you ride mostly in the muck, you could go with some more aggressive mud tires like MightyMaxIV, if not the Rawhides are time tested and durable. Go ahead and spend the extra bucks to get exactly the tire you want.

From my personal experience, I bought a set of Kenda Bearclaws before I got on this site, and they rock in the mud, but don't swim. So now I am buying six tires again....

If you are thinking about buying any other tires , other than the ones recommended for amphibious machines , I,d stay with what has already been proven to swim a little , and mud great . This leaves you a choice of :

1. Swamp Fox Plus
2 . Vampires
3. Mudbugs

I placed each ATV tire in the order of swimming ability . These ATV tires have been tried and proven already ,so why waste more money on ATV tires that may or may not work , any better than the ones you,ve wasted money on already ?

Yes, I am going to take advice from the experienced ones. Since I have 9" rims and the smaller Hustler 950 tub (I'm not as cool as Meinfeld and JPSwift), the Vampires are the best choice for proven swimmer mud tires. I'm going to do some detailed measurements this weekend to make sure the 25x13x9 tires will fit. Six of those bad boys and I should be rocking at Marengo!

If they don't swim I will either buy a push pole or get another set of rims and buy some Rawhide III's....just change tires depending on where I am going.

I have decided for the Marengo Swamp run , Vampires will be my tire of choice . The tread design lends itself to a water speed that I can live with , since most of the water I cross is not that wide ,and water speed is not an issue with me . Its all about getting across to the other side of where I plan to go , in my Max IV . I,ve watched the Vampires water speed on video , of an Argo Bigfoot , driven by Matt Oxender . They swim fast enough to travel across a small pond in a reasonable amount of time . When I compete against the big tire , high ground clearance ATV,s , in the 70 ft Suicide Hole , at the Marengo Swamp , I will need a tire that swims a little , muds great ,and sheads mud as fast as it can . The Vampire tires have wide space betwen the treads . This helps them shead mud easily .

Since the Vampire tires are wider than 12 inches on a 12 inch rim , you might need to heat up your inner , lower tub and run wheel spacers also . . With a half inch alluminum spacer and at 3.5 - 4 psi , Vampires will work on a Max IV .
Dan ( AKA mightymaxIV ) said he may have to slightly clearance his lower tub behind the wheels , to make the Vampires fit at 2 psi . Dan said at 2psi the Vampires are the best ride out of all he has used . This includes Goodyear Terra tires , and Swamp Foxes . I,m also sure the Vampires ride bettter than my 26 " Gators at 0 psi . The Gators are 6 ply and the Vampires are 4 ply . The Vampires have softer side walls . At 2psi the Vampires give excellent traction and shead mud easily . I plan to run 6 Vampires , on 12 inch rims , on my Max IV . Front tires tire foward , middle backwards , rear tires fowards . The 13 mile trail ride through the Marengo Swamp is filled with mud and gumbo clay . I plan to stay close to the Suicide Hole , so I can make a few trial runs first , before the main event .

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the closed or continuous chevrons are better for swimming

These tires are almost exact copies of the 21" Goodyear Rawhide, which swim very well. A closed pattern chevron tire like the Carlisle would swim very well, but it would not be as good in the mud.

Never mind those 8x8 owners and guys who want a spare.

These are words truely spoken . It all depends on where you plan to use your amphib . I need moderate water speed , and wider spacing between the tire lugs , for sheading mud quickly as possible . I hate having to use my winch .

Be very very careful on your measurement because those vampires are wide! I think that the Vampire is the best choice for mud and water speed although a good chevron will out swim you every time. For heavy duty swamping for marengo I think you would be hard pressed to find a better tire than the Vampire. They will swim! If I had to guess I would say about 2 mph.

Nope I have not got to try them out yet I am doing that complete restoration on the sears sportster I got a couple of posts on it. Hopefully by the end of March or early April I will have it going (If my wife will let me). But they really look like they will work well.

As I admitted to my AATV therapist, JPSwift, I am a moron, I actually have 8" rims, not 9"....wasn't paying attention. So this leaves vampires out for me, unless I buy new rims, which I am not too keen on. The 25" vampires will NOT fit on a Hustler 950 body. They lack about 1/2" vertical clearance in the front of the machine. Width wise they would fit. Jeff pointed out that they make super swampers (similar tread design) in 8". Do Super Swampers swim?

I did not comment on your other thread, but I was pretty darn impressed with the Sears machine.....heavy duty frame and a T-20...very cool. Had not seen one before.
