I studded the tires on my Yamaha Tri Moto three wheeler and it worked great! Bought carbide stud screws from Dennis Kirk catalog and just screwed em into the tallest lugs on my tires. Just don't screw em in too far, like I did on a couple...slow air leak is the result. Don't need too many per tire...three on each lug, every other lug, worked best. Great traction on ice...

thanks, I may try this. I slide around quite a bit, I also live on a lake and want some winter fun once the ice is thick enought. Sounds easy. Was going to get new tires/used anyway.
