  • Tires for Conquest

Like many of you guys, I have been searching and searching for the best tire set up for my machine for the conditions I ride in.

My 2004 Conquest is mainly my snow machine with tracks and hardtop, but I would like to have another set of tires and keep my runamucks just for tracks.

I would be riding in mud, lots of rock/hardpack, some snow, and very little water. I would like a tire that would be able to get me across a small pond/lake even if they were slooow.

So far I have narrowed it down to the Interco Super Swampers or Vampires in 22x12.50x9 or the Super Grip Super Light in 22x11x8. I was going to get the super swampers in 22x12.50x8, but I can't find them. I have read some conflicting reports on the super swamper swimming and have seen videos of the vampire swimming in the 25" size. I can get all of these listed tires for around $55 each.

I want the one with the best ride (soft) quality and turning ability. I think either would be plenty capable.

Do any of you guys have input on these or know where I can get the supe swampers in the 8" wheel size?

I would like to stick with 8" for the ride and reduce rim weight. THANKS!!!

I really don't know all the differences between the Argo models that well, so I don't know what the maximum tire size you can go with is, but I'll put this out there for you to consider. First, there isn't a Super Swamper available for an 8" rim that will mud and swim well. The Vampire would be the best choice compared to the Super Grip Super Light. The Super Grip tires don't swim, the Vampires do. Plus the Vampires give you better traction in the mud and they're a little bit tougher of a tire. Now, if you could fit 25" tires, that would be a great direction to go with because there are a lot more options and a 25" tire on a 9" rim would give you a softer ride. The GBC Gator, Maxxis Mud Bug, Super Swamper Vampire would all be good choices for swim, turning, mudding, and ride quality.

Now if you'd like to stick with 8" rims, I'd say you could go with the GBC Gator in the 22x11x8" size, but they'd probably be a bit more expensive than the good deal on the Vampires.

I have a 2000 Conquest and I opted for the Argo 189 Frontier tire in 24" size.. and they are tight. I would stick to a 22" tire..And I'm not sure it the argo 9" and 8" rims share the same backspacing. That is something else to consider.

Dan are you running the 7 inch Argo rims? I think the 8wide rim may help squat the tire some. You could compare height with Lewis as I think he mounted his on 8's for the Crush.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
          Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I love the 24" Frontiers for my Conquest, but as mentioned, they are a tight fit.

I would go with the argo 24" or 22" swimmer tire, the 24" is a tight fit but if you contact an Argo dealer with inventory you could get him to give the smallest tires he has in stock. I love the Argo tires. They are not the greatest in pure mud but if you add a little water or in swamp conditions with logs in the water they are exceptional. In all around conditions they preform very well and are an excellent swimming tire. Nothing rides better then the 22 and 24" Argo tires. Yes they are expensive!
