  • Dry Rott Sidewalls - As seen on TV

Am I crazy thinking I can fix my Goodyear Rawhides sidewalls with Flex Seal. Thinking of taking them off the rim, cleaning and apply flex seal on the inside. I see members having good and bad results with Slime. I only have slow leaks due to Dry Rott, there 15 years old and the tread is in good shape.

Try it and let us all know, many have the same issue.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Call me pessimistic, but I don't think it will work. I would spray some on the outside of a tire just to see if it sticks first. I personally have had good luck with slime and believe it will work better in your application than that stuff. I just don't believe the advertising tactics they use are accurate or ethical.

Did you try this, inquiring minds want to know? Tubes are another option, they may fail in time but cheaper then tires.

I was discussing this with my dad today. He said he read several newspaper articles stating the stuff does not work at all. See these reviews online Flex Seal Complaints | Scambook

From what I have seen of the stuff, it is like undercoating that you get in a spray can. So your just coating it with thick black paint basically.

I have not tried it yet, but I did take the tire off the rim and clean it very well. Also bought bead lock sealer for when i put it back together. It seems like the undercoating may work better ? The spray can just doesn't seem like it will apply well. Maybe a can and brush will work better. The flex seal may work on the outside of the tire ?
