Original Argo Plastic Tracks

Hi All

I bought a used plastic tracks for my Bigfoot Argo, that I now realize are the original track design by Agro. I need a half segment to connect the tracks, but the original half segment is no longer available. The current design of half segment will not knit to this older design without some cutting back and weakening the connection. Also this older tack system has a narrower throat for the ties to pass through (9 3/4" wide) than the current track design (10 1/2'), and I have been told these older tacks tended to run hot from tire friction leading to segment warpage in extreme cases. I would appreciate anyone’s experience and/or suggestions in running the older (original) track. Will these tracks work with my Bigfoot on 22" Runamuck tires?

i just ran into this with my super tracks.i filed the new half segment down with a wood rasp untill they meshed.still lots of meat on there.my track guides were also wore pretty good from the friction.they were wore to the point of being sharp.i used a hand grinder to grind away the shapness and rounded the edges,then i hit every guide with a propane torch to make them as blunt as possible.im also running old runamuck tires so you should be good.

Thanks for the advice. I ran the tracks for the first time yesterday over deep snow, and I noticed a fair amount of side/tire rubbing and tire polish. I ran for about 30 minutes and noticed audible squeaking from the tires at the end of the run. I think my tire fit might be too tight on some of the track segments. The throat opening of my used tracks varies from 9 3/4" to 9 1/2" or less (with some permanent distortion) with some sides wore very sharp. How much did you grind off the sides and what length or depth of side did you end up with? I can measure about 5 3/8 inches original side height (measured from the inside). I would have to reduce the side height to 3 1/2" to make the throat opening 10 1/4" (approximate opening in the current design of Argo track). What do think of track side height of 3 1/2". Would it work? I intend to use the tracks mostly in snow and early spring muddy conditions.

when i ground mine down i did not do it to a specific height.just ground each guide down so the sharpness was gone.yes my tires still squeek a bit but i figure on snow or mud your gonna get some lubrication.also im still running the old runnamucks so what they hay,drive those old tracks and save a lot of coin for now.damn things will last me for years.
