are the argo 18" HD tracks with the 24" turf tires a better system than the tracks over stock tires ? I have read 900 threads today seems to be that you should own two sets of tracks one for swamp and one for snow ? there is very little info on the turf tire set up I am purchasing a new machine and dont want to run tires ever so It may be a better way to go for me

I think that the factory rubber tracks are an excellent general purpose track...time has proven that full block tracks and especially quad-track set ups lack the performance of open track designs in soft mud, swamp, and water, but are better than tires and pretty good in snow...the type of tire you run in most tracks makes very little difference as long as it has a relatively smooth tread and the profile matches the inside running surface of the track...the optimal tire profile for a track tire would be fairly square as the square shoulder on a tire helps to keep the track from rolling around on the tire and possibly twisting itself off under high leverage situations

I am going through the same dilemma myself.:hammy: I am about to jump in and get some new tires rims and tracks for the conquest. What I have come up with is If you run a closed rubber track it mite be better to go a more open tire like the At101 or something along that line. Less snow build up between tire and track. But try to stay to a flatter tire. Now with the more open tracks I would think the turf tire would work good. I will be going the 8x8 x4.5 bead lock rims and not the 8x7 stock Argo rims. I want a little wider rim to help the tire sit a little flatter in the track. I do like the Carlisle turf tamer tire 4-ply They look to be a flatter running tire. I think for the more open track like the adair, escargo and channel track it would work quit well. They would be a lot smother riding in the track. As RD Pointed out in another thread he has walked out of all his tracks for one reason or another. Now it looks like he is running the the more rounded tires on his machines Like the runamuck line of tire: that is quite a rounded tire hmmmm2: I could be wrong.
It would be interesting to know if someone else has played with different tires in there tracks
I Am not looking for a tire that swims but a good tire for the tracks If you are not running tracks then It,s another story all together.
Do not for get the track tuners, They will help things run a lot smother. All the way around .
