  • Adair track types?

Okay guys, I'm sure your getting tired of answering everybody's daily " what track should I get?" Threads. But I need some help.

I've decided from my research on this site that Adair tracks are they way to go, but the question is what TYPE of Adair tracks should I get? I've checked out the website and seen a few different models but not a description of what each kind is for?

Could someone please give me a breakdown of what type of Adair tracks work best for what situation? How do I choose between shackle tracks and 14" belted and so on?

    Thanks for your time folks!

We need to know the conditions you will be running them in, snow? Ice? Mud? swamp? all of the above? If snow, how deep?

I was hoping to get an explanation of what each type is good for , so that possibly future info seekers wouldn't have to be dealt with on a case by case basis. But personally I'm dealing with mud, muskeg, and hopefully snow. Snow is my enemy. Mostly wet rotten spring time snow.

I'm thinking of upgrading my 2007 avenger to a 2013 avenger HDI and get tracks and a cab for more year round fun.

Oh and as for snow. I'm not in the mountains, so we don't get 20' of powder or anything but it gets waist deep in the bush.

All of Tims tracks will work under your conditions, with the exeption of hard ice, then the grossers get a little slippery, solved by cleats or studs. Last years style track I ran all year, and loved them, they turn super nice, and are very aggressive in wet or dry snow, mud and muskeg, and because I put about 100 hours on them, and never had a single issue, they are a great choice.
However, now I am running the belted tracks, and even though I don't have many hours on them yet, they are fast becoming my favorite with the cleats installed,as now I have a super agressive track, that fills the gap(for me anyway).Without the cleats, the pro series, and the older style are close preformance wise, with the pro being a little more aggressive. An HDI with any of Tims tracks will be a serious upgrade, that I'm sure you will enjoy.

I would consider the Adair belted track, my personal preference would be the 18 inch track that Foxvalley uses on his HDI, I have a link posted here. The track Foxvalley uses is on the lower right.

I am sure you have seen FoxValley videos but just in case here is one to show the capabilities of his machine.

A friend was asking me about Tracks today, so I went looking at the Adair Argo Site, noticed a couple things.......

On the "Shackle Track" page, there is a pic of an Argo pulling a Tandem Axle Trailer...... With Tracks on the Trailer
How many have tried this, and did it work for you? I only tried it once, and it was a horrible experience (In my conditions, loaded as I was).

On the "Wide Swamp/Snow Track" page, I don't see the 14.5" Version anywhere..... Is it discontinued?

Oh, ya. LOVE that 4,000lb winch with the 100' Spool. I might have to call about a price on that baby

Glad I went and had a look at the site, I haven't been there for a while, Tim has it set up nice. Is the Photo Section kind of like a "Brag Board" where anyone can put up pics, or is it more of a private thing?

Um, Getting a little side "tracked" here. Have many of you guys tried tracks on a trailer, how did you like it, and what kind of conditions were you running in? Any "Tips & Tricks" you could share?
