If you don't plan on hardly moving in the water and are mostly interested in mud and trail riding , the GBC Gator is very durable and outstanding tire in the mud. I ran 26 " inch Gators on my Max IV when I first got it because I needed a much more aggressive mud tire than the Terra tires that come on my Max IV from the factory. I mainly ride in places that have thick mud or mud and water with a bottom that the Gator tire can get traction in. You'll be happy with the Gator tires for the conditions that you posted

When I was thinking about buying the GBC Gator tires for my Max IV, the forum members on Route 6x6 told me that the stiff side walls of the gator tires would ride really rough on Max IV. With that in mind, I ran the Gator tires at zero psi ,and in my opinion, the Gator tires didn't ride any rougher than the Terra tire that I took off.

I have ran a set of Gators on a Max II before. Not worth the money in my opinion. Rough ride and zero water speed. You will be completely unable to cross a body of water of any size or current. It is unfortunate that we have basically no options for tires anymore. The 22" Argo tire is the only tire that will swim and ride good with 'ok' mud performance. The 21" Carlisle will swim but it is much smaller and very little tread. Thick mud will clog just about any tire on our amphibs, we just don't have the wheel spin needed to clean out tread.Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

Cool! They're a great mud tire, and I believe 6X6World member Noel Woods had the 25" Maxxis Mud Bugs, which are pretty much the exact same tire as the GBC Gators and his machine swam and was unstoppable in the deep mud. Before you upgrade your engine, just get a red driven clutch spring from Recreatives www.maxatvs.com and you'll do just fine with that 16HP Vanguard. Oh and if you get a chance, could you post some pics for us? Thanks."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

I ended up putting Gators on my MaxII. Like it was mentioned, there aren't alot of options. The ride does seem to be rough, they are heavy side walled. But then again I have them at 2.5 PSI+/-. Mud, dirt, trails they do fine. Water? don't know yet. I had it in the creek when it was swollen in the spring. The current did the driving. Now the creek is a mass of grass and cattails so water testing will have to wait. If I plan on being in the water, I'm usually in a canoe anyway.

I held my 26" inch , Gator tires next to Wildtexasranger's 25" inch , Mud Bug tires before he installed them on his modified , Max II tub, and the tread pattern of both of these tires was almost the same visually. The only difference I could see was that the Mud Bug tires have the lugs spaced out 3'8" of an incher farther apart than the Gator tires ,and are 1/4" of an inch longer on the side walls. With the Max II tub modified to accept the 25" inch Mud Bug tires, a Max II floats like a cork in the water and has ' reasonable' swim speed for a atv mud tire. I rode Noel Woods Max II for 30 minutes with 2-3 psi in the tires while he road my Max IV with the suspension seat on it to try it out, and in my opinion his Max II road REALLY GOOD for an atv mud tire! Comparing the 26" inch , Gator tire mounted on a 12" inch rim to a 25" inch , Mud Bug tire mounted on a 9" inch rim is like a night and day difference in the ride comfort with both tires aired to 2 psi.

Cool. Thanks for the info, mudbug. I tried to get some 25x12x9 Mudbugs for my Max II but unfortunately I couldn't located any because they're discontinued in that size."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"
