  • Check out the 31"dick Cepek tires on this quad

Check out this video and look at the these 31" Dick Cepek tires, they look as if they could be a swimmer tire.

At 31 inches I just don't think there is a recreational machine that has the center to center axle spacing for them to fit.

If you look closely at the tires, they would not be able to run backwards. The tread is directional due to its ramp tread design. I don't think they would swim well at all. This is not the only size tire for that tread design either. I have scene the same design in a 26x12x12, the factory size for a Max IV, so if someone wants to give it a shot, you can.

Nichols makes one in a 26x12-12 that's essentially the same. I've seen these on a few garden tractors at local townie events.

Oh, and Vogel Manufacturing seems to offer a few variants on this tread pattern. Lug depth and lug spacing seem to be the biggest difference between Vogel' models.

This looks to be a digging tire, but not a swimming tire.

I think you're absolutely right mudbug. I'm assuming garden tractor pulling people just use them to dig into the hard pack dirt for traction.

Drew and I were at the Alexander Steam and Tractor show last year and we saw quite a few townies with tires like these on their garden tractors. "How much them there tires run a month?"

These tires are also designed to be groomed or cut for more traction and/or different surfaces. It is entirely possible to groom each bar on the back side to resemble an AATV tire. Might be worth a try if you had a machine that had axle spacing which would allow their use.
