  • What tires for an Attex?

What tires do you guys recommend? I have the choice of Rawhides or Chevrons.

I will mostly be driving on hard dirt trails, occasional loose gravel, beaches and very occasionally some asphalt (but only in a straight line).

I heard the Rawhides are a tough ride, but I am a little worried the Chevrons will wear too quick (the Chevrons are already slightly used)...

I would be keen to hear your experiences with these tires.

    Thanks,

Stevo, the best all around tire would be the 22x11x8 Goodyear Rawhide III. You will absolutely love these tires. I have them on 3 of my AATVs and they are one of the best tires for our vehicles in my opinion. Also, you can get them at a very good price. 40-somthing dollars per tire. www.tiresunlimited.com The regular 21" Goodyear Rawhide won't give you as good of traction as the Rawhide III and you are correct, it rides very hard. The Chevron tires would probably not work well for the type of riding you describe. They are very fast tires for swimming your AATV in the water, but that is probably their only very strong point. Hope this helps.

Here is Don's Superchief with 22" Rawhide III's.......they make this machine look real mean!

Thanks for that bit of advice... The ride with the Chevrons are very nice! But as I thought they will not be suitable for me.

I may be stuck with the Rawhides a while as shipping 6 tires to Australia is expensive.

You might want to check Goodyear's website......they might be able to provide you with a list of international dealers so you could just order them there in Australia and not have to worry about having them shipped so far and save you some money.

I had a quick look and so far have not been able to find any... My guess though from what I have seen is they would probably be $100 (or more) a tire.

Am I better off staying with the Chevrons if I cannot source the Rawhide III's? The Rawhides we have now are the original Rawhides I think. We purchased them in 1991 or 1992.

I had someone say to stay with the Chevrons, but am now really confused. The Rawhides really do tear up surfaces, whereas the Chevrons tend to slide more freely.

          Thanks
