  • Runamuk tires/plastic tracks question

Our argo has the std goodyear runamuk tires, some of which are about 1/2 or the tread worn down, others look new.
    Getting plastic tracks this weekend.

I'm wondering if I should replace the 1/2 worn tires with new, or will it make a difference when running the plastic tracks in muskeg/grass cutlines? I have some new tires that came with the argo so it wouldn't be an additional expense.

    Thank you for your advice.

You may get away with it in muskeg and grass. if your track is nice and snug..

But I will say. That is a bad combo with ice and snow. And a steep down hill mountain road. As I found out the hard way.
I was heading home after a fantastic day high in the mountains The argo was loaded. And away I went. With a big smile on my face. The smile soon change to a look of fear. As I was sitting in a run away argo. Talk about picking up speed fast. The tire were locked up but the track was slipping on the worn tires. I had no control at all. I swear I went from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds . I tell you it it was one hell of a ride..
The one thing I learned was to make sure your tracks are snug and you have good tires.
One more thing It helps to have a change of pants to after that ride

Scary!!! ABMoosehunter, depending on the circumference of your tires you might try to put the tires with better tread on the four corners as that is where most of the "grab" from the tires occurs. I have some fairly worn runamucks on some of the middle axles, and have had no issues... yet. Mind you, the areas I ride are about as flat as you can get. Good luck.
