  • track question "refurbished plastic tracks"

I have a set of 13" plastic tracks that I would like to run all year but have found on hard surfaces there kike riding on ice. I have seen a video on youtube. But can tell what they have done to the tracks. Any any ideas would be a big help I would like to use some rubber belt line Ive go cut into 13x2x1/2" strips but am not sure how to attach them to the plastic I think I could use carriage head bolts run down through so the bolts don't punture the tires. I would like to use rubber so I get traction on hard slick surfacs. Help please the belt and labor is free just hate to wast 304 bolts and nuts if it won't work.

I did mod my plastic 18 in tracks with rubber belting and it made a 100% improvement in the traction. And it help to to stop some of the snowballing effect I was getting with the plastic track. It was so bad. The snow and ice would bind between the tub and track and you could not move, until you knocked the snow and ice off the track.

Ok well I'm wanting to add a strip of rubber across the track like a dozer has to make a grouder on the track my thinking is I might be abke to swim alittle with the tracks as well as go though the mud even better thanks for the pic. Anyone else got any ideas??

Hey creepin, did you ever complete this mod? I had thought along the same line for side hill traction.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I would like to do this as well to plastic tracks. Although I was thinking of making tracks from snowmobile tracks as one member has done. I think it would work well in my winter conditions up here in Newfoundland.
