Does anyone know how the tracks compare with
the 25x12" rawhide tires in the water?

I just tested them out up in Maine a month ago. I have an argo bigfoot. Without a doubt the tires are faster. The tracks will propell you but at a crawl. You can't go full throttle as they cavitate and you go nowhere. I found that if I set the throttle about half open and lean to one side then the other there by raising one track higher out of the water you actually moved faster. I will say though it was the second time in water with them and the first time I was completely disappointed in the performance but the second time up in Maine I wasn't disappointed at all. Accepting that they are slow and playing with the throttle and rocking I could actually move against the current of the river I was in. I wouldn't try anything crazy though. I'm heading back up this saturday and just took the tracks off for the trip. I found I didn't really need them up there and that they are best suited for the swampy area behind my house.

I have attached a video of my 650 Frontier swimming in the pond at River Run ATV park, at the time my frontier had the 25 inch rawhide III tires (with Adair tracks), the big foot that enters the water after me had a set of Adair tracks with 22" tires. Naturally the 25" tires float the machine a little higher and the machine swims a little better. As I learned that day you turn a machine with tracks by leaning, not steering and as Trevor has stated the water speed is reasonable but not fast, how ever an 8x8 is a different story, they seem to swim much faster so I have to ask what kind of machine do you have? If you have an 8x8 with 25" Rawhide III's you can expect a pretty good water speed, if you have a Bigfoot you will have to go to 22" tires and the water speed will be about the same as you see in this video.

Does anyone have significant experience in "side-hilling" and/or up-hill turning with these tracks, especially on "sticky" or tundra-type ground-cover. I do know they work in the water/mud....

          Yes.
Side hilling with any type of tracks is always a little chancy. I've slid sideways down hills with my Supertracks, my Rubber Tracks, my Adair's, and my Standard Tracks. Wet grass is actually pretty bad. I've noticed that the "Hard Faced" tracks get better as they wear in (less slippery )
I've never had any trouble with uphill turns... Except for that time I tried running without my front Axle Chains (spun the tires inside the tracks)
This is the result of sliding down a grass hill

            RD,

Did you manage to get the machine out easily?

Ideal for checking underneath the machine!!

It was a friend, and he got lucky.... Helicopter Recovery, lol.
I think he could have gotten out himself, given a couple hours, but Time Is Money in the gas industry.

I know what you mean, I work in the oil and gas industry too, unfortunately we don't have any argos offshore here

As Doc mentioned, most track types have the "slide factor" to take into consideration. The only exeption that I have found is the belted winter kit, and the short cleat kit, attached to the 14" pro series tracks.
The slide factor is reduced to the point that you have a better chance of rolling over, than you do sliding when side hilling a steep slope.
There are advantages, and disadvantages with any track type, including the winter kit on the pro series.
This sounds like a great excuse to do another demo video on side hilling with this track type. Here is a pic of this setup,if you have'nt seen it already.2013-08-22_14-27-04_578.jpg

Just got back from Maine for the weekend and ran tires this time, 25" rawhide III's. Swimming this time got me 2 mph on the GPS, last time up there with the 14.5 pro series track I couldn't even get a reading. This is on the 6x6 Bigfoot, from what I've seen in videos the 8x8's with the same tracks swim quite well. Just thought I would give an update.

Just got back from a trip out in the bush, had another great trip.
I wouldn't say "nothing impresses me", but not much in the muskeg does........
My wife busted a drive shaft, or something(quad), on the way to the truck this afternoon. 6 miles from the truck, and she has no power to the rear wheels.
Enter "Adair 14.5" Pro Series Tracks"
I pulled her and her quad all the rest of the way to the trailer, it was an impressive display.
                        I'm really liking these tracks

Hey RD how much time have you got on the tracks? also how are the cleats holding up? Are they still as tall as new or have you noticed them wearing down, just curious?

So far, the Pros are holding up better than anticipated. They are very strong/ durable, I'm not seeing much for wear on the Grousers at all.
For the majority of my travels, these tracks fit the bill.
I've just ordered another set of Pros to outfit my daughters Conquest. The 18.5 Adair Tracks were OK, but made her machine too wide for our purposes.

Not sure how much time I have on the tracks..... 40-50hrs maybe.
