  • Kenda Bearclaw tires

Anyone ever try the Kenda bearclaw tires on there rig? I doubt they swim to good but I bet they would be nice in the mud and woods. I see a set of 8 for sale with rims pretty cheap and was thinking of picking them up.

I use Kenda bearclaws, I like them for our conditions over here in Scotland. What machine are you putting them? Here is a photo to show you what they look like mounted on an avenger.

If you search mactrax84 on YouTube there is a video of me with an early avenger running bear claws in a real boggy hole.

    Cheers

      hi
      Fitted to an argo 6x6
good forward and reverse traction better than chevron
more difficult to turn compared to a chevron pattern
the 6 ply version is a lot firmer to ride than a chevron
donot swim very very poor forward direction
for my situation they did not work
the chevron pattern [DURO hf255 22/11/8 4 ply ] that I installed afterwards are a far better all purpose tire

was thinking of putting them on my Max2. I don't really plan on swimming much so that's ok I usally ride in the woods more and mud so these may work out nice.
        Thanks for the input

I've seen several machines with Kenda Bearclaws, an Argo Frontier, a Max4 and a Hustler 980. All three mudded well, but swam like a plastic water bottle floating in a pond, maybe slower.
I drove each machine too and the ride was bone jarring. I would rule these out for an amphib.

For my use they were just perfect. They don't swim good but they do. I have to say that I had 4 bear claws, 2 other agressive tires and 2 chevrons. Maybe the shevron help a bit. At least thy don't puncture as bad as the original tires. In fact I never puntured one. With the original tires I could blow 4 and more tires in a year. The bearclaws have a hard riding, you need a good back and you can't go fast in wood or your jump out. But they are 6 ply and for my use they were just right. Now I just install chanel tracks over them. A completly different machine.
