  • Beadlocks wheels for racing

I am going to put true beadlock wheels on the Blackbird. I am wondering if inner beadlocks are required or just the outer. Has anyone out there de-beaded a tire off the inner side of the wheel while racing. It is easy enough to make inner and outer rings but because it is for racing I am not wanting to add any additional weight to anything if it is not really necessary. I think for me at least outer beadlocks are a safety concern so I will add them, just wondering if anyone has had any issues with inner beads ever. Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

With a true beadlock (retaining ring bolted on) you could get away with running tubes. That would keep the inner bead on ......
