I wouldn't really call it a track set up. It's more similar too a half @ssed attempt at a cheap dually. It's been a while, but these have been discussed on here before. If you wanted a quad to swim, why wouldn't you buy a 6x6? If you want your 6x6 to float, put your drain plugs in. Those wouldn't last a day on the trails attached to one of my machines, and a doubt a quad with those on it will be able to follow me.
That's what I want to do...not. Stick a set of half-a$$ed add-ons to a quad, then get plastered with muck while straddling it. (Assuming you even make it to the other side)
One thing about a 6x6 or 8x8, you're still mostly clean after a mud pit!
What I have heard Jwheelz works quite well at 4x4 atvs. Those are much lighter than dualwheels and dont give big load to transmission and steering parts.
I think Jwheelz would work quite well also in these 4x4 hydraulic forest trailers.
I'll admit adding to the overall width of a 6X6 or 8X8 with the JWheelz could cause problems in tight spaces in the woods. However, they do add a bunch of floatation and the paddles help in soupy mud. See the attached video of a MAX IV 6X6 with the JWheelz mounted (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTY_ps3iktQ). If you're operating in muskeg, swamps, tundra, etc., these would add flotation to allow you to haul more gear. According to the website, a set of 4 J-wheelz will add 310 lbs of additional flotation to whatever machine they are installed on. So, that would be an additional 465 lbs of flotation for a 6X6, or 620 lbs of additional flotation for an 8X8. I can see where that would be a real advantage. Just look at some of Rock Doctor's videos to see how much he loads down his Conquest. Like all new products, they do have their window of application.
I woud not say that they are junk, but a good option for guys that are in really bad soup or need more stability while floating. The guy was not holding back and took them for a nice drive through the "woods". I am an Argo guy, but the Max also did an awesome job. I would say those are like an "elevated" type dually and only engage when you sink to a certain level in the goop or are in the water. There is no doubt that they got him through some of those bad spots.
We'll I wasn't looking to buy new tracks until just a little while ago..lol
I think they are a great dually sub, but like everything they have their place and time for use.
Wouldn't mind trying a set but you won't catch me riding like him.
Look if you have got to run in very nasty mud and can deal with the extra width in the woods and on the trails the J Wheez are an awesome choice. You can watch this MaxIV in some very serious mud in this video. I doubt that any AATV with just tires could navigate in this mud but this MaxIV with J Wheelz makes it look easy. Depending on what you want to do these might be the right choice for a lot of drivers.
