  • 25 inch Dirt devil tires on Max2

Finally had time to get some pictures on the 25 inch tires I put on the Max2. I took it out a couple times so far thru the swamp near my house and thru some thick wooded areas and they perform very well. they do swim a bit and by a bit I mean around 2mph tops but its god enough to get me thru the small amount of water I usually drive in. In the mud they do very good I ran it thru some real soupy mud and had the tires over the top and didn't get stuck at all.
hopefully the link below will show the pictures lol! first time trying this

They look really good. It's amazing how much of a difference 25" tires make when it comes to ground clearance on a Max II.

Thanks Mike they are a big improvement on ground clearance the only downfall is I lost some mph. I haven't checked it but I think top speed may be around 15-18mph now. the 18hp briggs wasn't no speed demon in the first place but the bigger tires took a toll on the speed. I think I am going to try maybe a timing advance key and pull the restrictors out of the exhaust. I have been looking for a 20hp carb and manifold but it seems they are pretty rare used, guess I might start to hit the repair shops in the area and see if they have any old ones kicking around.

Please... If you don't mind. Can you share how you did the mods to tub? I know they
are heated then the "fenders" are pushed up. One method used carved lumber that was
bigger than the tire to create clearence by using a jack. The other used a 2x4 pushed up by forcing
30 pounds tire pressure to push up the "fender" area. Which did you use. Do you have pics? Better yet video? I'd like to learn more about this.

I made a fixture out of wood. I used a 2x8 and layed the tire on it and traced the curvature of the tire I made 4 pieces like that and screwed them together. then I attached a piece of wood to each side and another to the ends of those to make a box. I heated the tub up with a heat gun and used a hydraulic jack to press the form into the tub. it took quite a while to heat the tub about 20 min before it was plyable enough. then I let it set for a couple hours and repeated it 3 more times
I don't have a video camera yet but I will take some pictures of the fixture I made.
