so here's another method to fabricate an elevated-belt crosser utilizing UHMW and u-channel....
the width of both could be adjusted, and so could the radius of the guides to fit virtually any tire. There is a lot of flexibility I think in how you could miter the u-channel and adjust the outer body shape of the guide for the escargo-effect. Here is a basic picture.
Just imagine lengths of u-channel 1.5" wide with 1.5" thick UHMW block "paddle" surface tire guides.
