I have never used this stuff for tires but it is the strongest gasket maker I have ever used
When i used this this to seal parts together when I have to take it apart it is very hard I think this would be the best choice for glueing tires to the wheel Gasket Makers : Permatex® the Right Stuff® Gasket Maker

You might try using Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant to glue the tires to the rims. Others here have used it and I have too on older tires that would not stay on the rims. Best is to spend money and get good rims like the K-lock 8" and 12", and Muddox 9" rims.

You're absolutely right, Marc. I run K locks on all my machines and some machines I run at 1PSI and I have never lost a bead on them. I thought there was someone else out there that said they had good luck with the Rec Stuff wheels a few years back, so I'm going to agree and say they most likely got a new supplier for their wheels.Originally posted by jerseybigfoot View PostNo speculation, it takes 30 psi to seat a new tire on a K lock and 5 psi to seat a rec stuff. Personally I think Rec stuff changed their source in the past year because last year I mounted some old Dirt Devils and they took some effort to seat and they stayed seated.
shot410ga, try them out and report back to us after a few rides and let us know how they work out with the bead sealer.

So we are just guessing what a "K" lock is? Thanks, for the info about the size difference. Seems we know very little about why the "K" lock is better than the "J" lock, other than speculation. For the price I think I'll buy a set of the Recstuff wheels, smear them with Permatex high tack and see what they will do. $50-vs-$13 X 8 = is a savings of$ 296. That buys a lot of Permatex, as well as a tire changer and three Chevron 101's......Am I being cheap? No just thrifty.

Rec wheels circumference 24 7/8"between bead lock and outside. not quite 8"
Old 8" x 7" rim from the 80's 25 3/16 measured at same location. just a hair over 8"

I'm sure the rec wheels are a smaller diameter. I will measure them later today to confirm.

"K" lock rims are named that because they are made by Kawasaki.
They hold the beads better because they were designed specifically for low pressure ATV tires that need a larger ridge to hold them on. I suspect they are also a few thousandths bigger in diameter too, Making for a tighter fit just to help keep that low pressure air inside the tire.

"J" style rims are the standard bead lock rim. So, I was told. Google "J" type rims, you may learn something. What are "K" lock rims. I couldn't find anything concerning that profile on the Internet. Why are they so much better?

What do they mean by "J" style bead lock? Did they say they'd work with low pressure ATV tires or are they just intended for high pressure trailer tires?Originally posted by shot410ga View PostI talked to Recstuff about these wheels. They are a bead lock wheel "J" style.

I don't remember what exact sealant I used, but it was nothing special. Jersey Bigfoot did buy these rims as well. He clearly was not happy with the performance of the bead lock.Originally posted by shot410ga View PostFinely, one real answer. "No problem on a racing track." What brand on bead sealant did you use?
Buggyman: Every answer is an opinion, and I value yours. However, one that really purchased the Recstuff wheels and installed new tires on them carries a lot more weight than a questionable opinion with no experience with the product, even if they are only used on a track.
