I think Richard sells TruTracks. I am also interested in hearing experience with those as I have not personally ran them. I think it comes down to how much you want to spend as the TruTracks are more like the Argo plastic track and therefore cheaper to buy.
I only hope we can keep this topic factual without any bashing or hearing about how much someone might charge to ship those tracks.Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

brandon, i agree. i just want to make sure i make the right purchase. i really like the adairs. total price for the aluminum offset rims, 20 '' tires and the tracks plus my shipping is about $3200.00 that is fine if that is my best option. richards relics tracks are about $ 1000.00, $380 for the extensions, then the price for 6 21'' tires. i have 22'' rawhides, too big. i just want to hear how the plastic track perform under different conditions. so it is somewhat about cost, but less exspensive may not be the best choice. let's hope someone reply's with some good input. thanks fellow members. johnboy va.

Yea, Drew's right. That just screams, "expensive". Don't go through Richard's Relics. Go directly through Tru-Trax if you're going to buy them new. TruTrax | 4x4, 6x6, 8x8 Track Kits | Isanti, MN | Home Page Or if you want to save a lot of money, get a good used set. They pop up quite often......Argo standard tracks are the same thing and Argo's plastic super tracks will work as well. I run Tru-Trax on my Attex 'Lil Truck in the snow and it does GREAT in deep powder. I've also drove MaxIVMark's Max IV with Adair tracks and it does well in mud, snow, and pretty much every condition except rocks. Tru-Trax provide more floatation in the snow compared to the Adair tracks but the Adair tracks are superior in the mud. Tru-Trax require a little less power to turn compared to the Adair tracks well. Both tracks are good depending on what you plan on doing with them and how much you plan on spending. Hope this helps!Originally posted by amphibious drew View PostI don't know. It sounds expensive.
As always, sticking to the facts since I have first hand experience driving machines with both types of tracks. Hopefully we won't be having to hear about irrelevant information like something about side by sides."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

I have a machine set up like Jeff's in the video above but with "Argo" molded into each link. I have too much slop in my track right now and the wheels will slip and spin inside the track. The good news is that Argo still sells 13" and 18" half links for these old track systems. I'm expecting the links I ordered from Bost Argo, Centaur Sales|Sales and Service|Rockwell NC 28138 to arrive any day now.
Just another option for you. It's nice to know that the old tracks are still being supported by the manufacturers.Last edited by George; 02-18-2014, 07:54 AM.Banned

A word of advice if you get the Tru-trax or Argo style plastic tracks. Store them inside out of the sun. I had a set of Attex plastic tracks that sat on a pallet outside not covered. If the plastic looks a little gray instead of black they are brittle and will crack by the hing pins. Keep this in mind when looking at used tracks or when storing yours.

There was a set of Argo ones on ebay for $200 not too long ago in North Carolina. Some cheap tracks like that would fit the bill until you save up for some Adair tracks.Originally posted by john swenson View Postthanks jpswift for the first hand info and video. i have seen the video before but had no idea what make they were. i the the tru-trax would suit my needs and budget just fine. i will go direct to them. i assume thats the make richard relics sells? also, anyone selling a good used set let me know. appreciate the help. johnboy va. p.s. the video is the best way to really get a feel for the performance. johnboy va."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

They were thin at the hinges and some were broken, the segments are available for replacement individually. There may have been enough for a Max2 that were good.sigpic

The video shows the Max II running Tru-Trax in approximately 8-10" of crusted snow in the fields. The tracks ran good but the snow was not real deep. Going through some 2' deep snow drifts at slow speed the tracks would spin. At higher speed it would go through and get on top. The tall grass was a frozen marsh and the tracks did spin on the ice of course. These tracks are popular in MN and WI because of ice fishing and the company is local to the area. You have to use extensions with these tracks. They make for a very wide profile. Tru-Trax does not make bearing cages to go along with the extensions/spacers.

Very easy to do. Air the tires down, roll the machine onto the tracks, put the tracks on, line the holes up and slide the pin in, make sure you lube it well. Tighten down the alan head set screw and you're set.Originally posted by shot410ga View PostHow easy is it to install and remove the TurTracks?
