Maybe 7', the machine is 5' wide and the tracks stick out maybe a foot on each side. I didn't measure it.

thanks for the video. The machine "sounds" nice too- turns the tracks very well. I didn't hear a lot engine laboring that's for sure. For what it's worth, I've never had a problem with width even when breaking trail. There's always a way through even with a winter kit. If the trees are stacked too tight, and they're too big to run over...then that's what chainsaws are made for. Cut a trail. I feel the same way about tops. It's convenient as hell to run around with no top, but having the top on does not limit you. You can always find a way. (I do like canvas tops). With your machine, a foot on either side of the machine is not a giant deal for the increased snow capabilities.

I'm not home tonight. Tomorrow i'll measure the over all width if i think of it. Tuesday early I'm up north to work again. I been thinking about a top too, My wife don't like the cold. Pioneer makes a sweet top. Maybe, Maybe not, I'll decide later.

tops are very good. Personally, I use strictly soft-tops as they keep you just as cozy in the crap weather....they can be folded down quickly if you need the clearance, and they're very light. I never stack gear up high, so the idea of having a platform has never appealed to me. Though some guys like to sit up there to glass. I think there's always a way to get up higher than that if needed.

When you're going through the bush, a front-canvas cab (pickup truck style) is especially preferable as you can stay warm and dry....keep your cargo cool (tarped if need be), and you don't destroy your rear enclosure. When you start bashing through the bush, and your tail starts swinging...that's when you bust up your rear enclosure. I save the rear enclosure for when I'm taking the kids out and the weather's bad (6 of us can't fit in the front).

I was just wondering if the tracks ever hit the argo body ,if you had to do it over would you go with 24'' tires for more clearance between the top of the tracks and the under body of the argo just wondering , getting closer to putting an order in.

deerchaser- in my experience running both steel and uhmw versions, the steel crossers are far less prone to "hopping" when operating on bumpy terrain. I guess that's one advantage of a little extra weight that most people don't think about.

Unless your argo has less tub clearance than normal, you shouldn't have any clearance problems whatsoever. If you don't have enough clearance for escargos (because of a saggy tub/heavy hardtop or just bad argo years...early HDI's)...then you won't have clearance for any track - realistically. If that is the case, on option is to shorten your track and put the smallest tires on the corners and run less air pressure. This will limit the "ballooning" of your tires. Some machines just don't have proper clearance for any track style over 25" tires. It's unfortunate but true. In that case the 24" tires are a great option. 24" are a good option if you want a "ton" of clearance just for safetys sake too. The main difference is that the 22" and 24" tire fit a 10" wide crosser with a 1" tall cleat, while the 25" tires fit a 12" wide crosser with a 1.25" tall vertical steel cleat. So the bigger 12" crosser is just a little bigger in every way...but the 10" crosser works great too. Argo's 25" tires are kinda big, so if you have a questionable tub....look into it otherwise no worries. The 10" crosser is always a great option. I've run both and like them both.

Very little body contact at all with 25" tires. I think twice when traveling at high speed the track kinda slapped the bottom of the tub. I looked really close with a flashlight and can't see any rub or scrape marks at all under the tub of from the track rubbing on the inside and I go on steep side hills, through the brush where I maybe shouldn't go but that's why we buy these things.
