got the crossers drilled for studs (grade 8 bolts) on the outer half (under the tire area). You could also utilize the (2) outer bolts that are used to fasten the crosser guides to the elevated belt...as studs as well - if you simply use longer bolts. I'll probably just do that on the outermost holes as well, before I move to a separate cleat using these (2) outer bolts. Together, (4) bolts as studs might be all that is needed, and they would be easy to replace. You wouldn't have to worry about threaded holes in the plastic getting worn out. My goal was to be simple and strong.
One pic shows the location of where the "segmented" floatation pieces (rubber or 1/4" - 1/2" UHMW) would go. Different dimensions could be used. Individual segments would be able to separate (get farther apart) around the end tires.
Meanwhile the crosser guides maintain a constant position affixed to the elevated belt. Worth a try!
