  • 3-Lug vs. 5-Lug?

I don't really see a benefit other than having access to a cheap 5-lug wheel. It seems to me that 5-lug would be stronger but isn't the adapter still held on with the 3-Lugs from the original hub? If this is the case then I don't see a real benefit. I have 6 three lug wheels that I want to put on my racer that are already bought and paid for. Can anyone tell me why using the adapters is a better idea?

Nope. You already figured out that the 5 lug adapter is held on by a 3 lug hub. Maybe ease of finding a spare tire/rim in an emergency, but that's about it.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

The 3 lug 8" replacement wheels seemed to be in high demand a few years ago, but not so much anymore. I think they had a bad problem of the centers breaking and people tried to match what they had. For a low budget racer I'd use them, but on a nicer trail machine, I'd go for the better K-lock wheels.

I had bead lock rings made like the ones Joe H has on his. I am going to use them on the 6 wheels that I have already.

Those bolt on bead locks rings will work the best.

They've been discontinued for a long, long time. Your best bet is to get 3 to 5 adapters and some 8" rims.
