  • front half tracks

I see many posts about half tracks working pretty good,it seems that all the half tracks are put on the rear.My scrambler bodied max needs to get better in the snow.I would like to make half tracks for the front, this seems like it would work better than tracks in the rear because the front wheels wont be nosediving into the snow. Most posts about half tracks in front are on argo 8 wheelers, has anybody used half tracks in front on a 6x6 and did it help in the snow?

flippy, i've built my own half tracks and have been running them for over a year (with a few modifications) in deep mud and snow. they work really well and i like the simplicity of them. they are on my max 2 on the 2 back tires because there is more clearance. also my engines in the back. i'm waiting for a good snow here in va. to see just how deep i can get thru. plus i made some jz wheels style add on's for the front tires to give me some more footprint and traction. once we get the snow i will post pictures, etc. of me either blazing thru or stuck ! the half tracks turn easy too . i think you may be right about the half's in the front. they may pack the snow first so the back tires go well. if i have the nosedive problem i will switch the tracks and give that a try. have'nt had that happen in deep mud though. they just pushed on thru. keep us posted on your project.
