  • 28"s on a max IV?

I'm about to purchase new tires and wheels for my 1996 max IV. I currently have 22" tires with 8" wheels. I would like to get 28" tires on 12" wheels. I would like to know what yall think? If they will fit?

    Thanks.

28" tires will fit a new-bodied Max IV with the deeper lower tub after a little reshaping of the lower tub but I don't believe they will fit on your older style tub without some significant remolding. Someone else may be able to verify this?

Here are pictures of 28" tires on my Max IV. It is a 2002 and has the body suported with a center grab bar to get the body up away from the tires.

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful and this is a great site. Looks like I'm gonna go with the 25" Aqua torques on 9" rims.

The AquaTorques are very capable mud tires. If you air them up they will swim a little but will ride super bad. I run mine with no air in them and they still ride pretty rough but Are awesome in mud and rough conditions and really don't swim well at all. On the up side they look really cool and are pretty much indestructible. Here are a few pictures on a Max IV.

They would take my Max IV about as far as the factory rubber tracks but when I got stuck it was really stuck.

The best swim tire that will give you the most bang for your buck would be the 26x12x12 Goodyear Super Terra Grip.

If you have the bucks I would go for the 14 inch wide Vendettas tires. They ride a lot better then the Terra tires, and swim about the same speed or better. I had the 16 inch Vendettas on my MaxIV and was very, very impressed with the over all performance. The 16 tires offer a whole lot of more floatation but for some reason the 14 Inch Vendettas swim better.

Seems to be a lot of differing opinions on the Vendettas but the traction available from the 16 inch tires is very close to what I experienced with Adair tracks on the MaxIV- However for all around performance I would go with the 14"s
