Calling all do it yourself tire changers

Does anyone know what kind of tire changer works good on bead locks? Tired of taking them to the local shop only to come back with bead leaks. Also what works good to seal the bead on older tires? Thanks in advance

What I use is the same type used for go karts. I had a steel shop Roll me a steel band the outside diameter of the wheel (weldid) the I put the wheel in the press with a flat bar across it and pop the bead. Very Easy !!
Also to seal old beads you can try Indian head gasket sealer or a bead sealer sold at tire shops.

Yes sir ! All you need to do is have a pice of steel about 4 or 5" wide rolled and welded . not that costly and works like butter !!

I use a harbor freight tire machine and use gutter sealant for my leaking beads. The gutter sealant is from Lowe's. It stays flexible and comes in a caulking tube.

How does it work on bead locks?

You mean K rims ?
If so it works good. A racing go kart wheel has the same style bead retention made into them.

I bought the tire machine the same time I bought my K lock rims. The little machine does its job great. Make sure you bolt it to the floor! I tried bolting mine to a piece of wood, but it didn't work out.

Thanks guys for the advice. I found a piece of pvc and doubled it up and used the press to break the bead. I'll go to the harbor freight tire changer as the bigger tires won't fit in the press. The gutter seal works a lot better than the thin bead sealer too.

Tbone. That's the same asmy setup just I have a Steel ring. But Yours looks good to go !!

Thanks for the idea it worked great. The gutter seal mentioned by Liflod works great also.
