  • ice cleats for plastic tracks to get onto ice?

Looking at a 6x6 with the composite tracks, can I add cleats to it?

You can add ice cleats to plastic tracks. You can purchase them or make your own. Search the site, there are a few members that have posted their home-made solutions and some that just purchased the cleats and installed them.

Would the plastic track be strong enough for an extra wide cleat? Maybe one the size of most of the track or would that be too heavy

Your gonna need some seat time and do some reading/searching on this site, there is a ton of info on all the tracks. Some guys had put chain on their plastic tracks, some had snowmobile track studs, some had angle iron all with varying degees of success + more. I spent 2 years researching different machines(not just 6x6s) and track styles and what they are cabable of. Then I had a good start to making my purchases and have been very happy, now I still keep reading on how to operate and maintain my rig, can never know enough. Plus I love this site, very friendly people that are always willing to help. Good Luck!!!
