  • max tracks question

I have read several old posts that said max machines should have the front chains removed when running rubber tracks. This is so their is no binding of the drivetrain.Recreative industries use to advise this .Is this still a recommended procedure?

hey flippy, hope your doing well !! winters coming, be ready. i'm running the adair tracks and have had no problems with chain windup. i would think with out the front tire driving you won't get enough '' bite '' on the track with just the rear and center tire pulling. if you ran just half tracks that would be o. k. with no front chains maybe , but it may not turn as easily. let's see what others say. johnboy va.

I believe you are correct as to not chaining the fronts with the rubber tracks. Track tuners are supposed to illuminate the need to do this. On Adair tracks, tuners are not necessary as they do not grip the tires nearly as much as rubber does. Running without front chains and no tracks makes for some really difficult steering and control issues.

hi, I have a max and max tracks rubber ones I remove the front chains and I makes a big difference on drag. the tires slip once in a while in a bad situation but always got out. I highly recommend this. try it for your self, drive with front chains on then remove them. then you can decide.

Thanks guys,I still have a way to go before I get my tracks done. The snowmobile tracks are pretty aggressive and heavy.Still in the process of building wheel extensions, got three done that are 12 inches!Having a scrambler body with a max inner is forcing me to build my own bearing extensions also. With the tracks being 14" wide I had to go a foot with the wheel extensions so the tracks wont rub the tub.I really need to get some new pictures up because the machine I have now is not the one in my member pics.Cant wait to finish and try with and without front chain
