  • Tere Rim Upgrades

    Hello All,

I have an older 1970 amphibious with the older original tires. These appeared to be fused to the axle or something. Similar to the early ATC vehicles. Any help in adapters or ideas on upgrading the rims and tires on these axles would be great.

Do you mean single piece balloon tire as being the original? What machine do you have, there was a lot of machines made in the 70’s

Source them from these places, they're all good to deal with.

I have 1970 approx Sur trek with the baloon style tires. I will be looking to swap to a more modern tire. The Trek is in transit to me as I just made the purchase but once it arrives I will be collecting the restoration parts and upgrades . Was hoping I would not need to change axles.

You won't need to change axles. See my previous post in this thread. Those are all bolt ons, no modifications are required. Glad to see another Sur Trek coming out of the woodwork. Where's this one coming from?

Thanks for the reply on this post.
The sur Trek here is from Juneau Alaska. Hoping to see it soon in Seattle from a barge shipping line.
Hope all you folks can help in sourcing parts in the future. I am completing my Gotcha and Hovercraft prior to tearing into this project so I was hoping to ged a jump on any bits and pieces and information on restoring the rig.

Thinking of upgrading engine unless anyone can convince me that the old J lo is the best option.
              Merry Christmas too all
