  • homemade track testing question

I finally have 1 full homemade rubber track made and installed on my vehicle.I want to test this track to make sure my design works. Can I drive my machine with tires on one side and a track on the other? My machine is a max 2 with a scrambler body.

I've seen MaxIVMark do it several times on his IV. Of course that was always when we through a track on the trails and needed to get back to camp.

just wondering if the tires will have enough power to push the tracks when turning and if not will i only be able to turn one way do to the tracks having more weight and traction.

If it doesn't work with one track on, it won't with 2. You may have to compensate for the track with a little steering, but I'd give it a shot for a 5 min test ride.

Vide of Homemade track test one side

This is some video of me testing a homemade track before I complete the other side.
I am going extremely slow in the video but I did go full throttle round and round and tore up my yard, the track stayed on so its on to building the other side.

yes,I will get pictures of everything,my brother put the video up for me.I have terrible understanding of operating systems.Between my wifes apple phone and my kindle Having different things.Next time I will use a good old fashioned digital camera.I used 1"x1/4" flat stock for tire guides, homemade bearing extensions.14" wide studded snowmobile tracks spliced together with a homemade hinge of flat stock with 1/2" pipe with threaded rod acting as a hinge pin. will get some pictures of everything soon enough. Thanks for the compliments john.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures. I tossed out 4 tracks last winter I had saved for doing this but figured I didnt have the time. You are now giving me motivation to get more tracks. I live in Northern Maine and getting used tracks for free is pretty easy. My only big question is, how do you think the sidewall of the tires will stand up to the flat bar grousers?

                            thanks
