Ok first off sorry to dig up what i am sure has been hashed here before buti have a set of 13" plastic tracks how do they do in mud and muskeg argo says snow and flooded aeras so being dumb newb im asking is it worth running them year round or just go on tires

I think they will get pretty worn running them on hard packed trails. If snow is a condition in your local I would save them for that. I have never used them but have a set of super tracks that are in good shape but have only used them in snow. I have seen other sets that were pretty worn and I imagine it's from running on dirt. A good option to run year round are the adair tracks. Have used them on hard pack trails and show very little wear. Maybe sell the 13s and put the money towards a set of tracks better suited for your needs. Before this gets into a tracks war let me say there are a few different track options out there look at them all. All have pluses and minuses. I have what I wanted and they fit my needs.

My thing is the idea of 3g for a set of tracks on a 2g toy is kinda a hard sell especially to wife maybe if i re phrase knowing i will wear out my plastics faster are they still better than just tires in mud and muskeg as currently rhese aremy only options

I had the 22x10x8 inch runamucks from my super tracks so the adairs were like $1600.00

I have the plastic tracks on my Bigfoot. I use them in the snow most of the time. I have used them in mud and rough trails. They are well used and marked up. It will go almost anywhere. The problem is they do not turn great in mud and on solid ground so I now take them of after winter. The same tracks have been used over 10 years on two separate Argos and although beat up they stay together and still work fine. With the Bigfoot I have to put on the smaller tires with the tracks.

The 13 inch plastic tracks work great in the snow and they work fine in the mud. They suck on hard pack, they will slip on roots, rocks, etc. Driving on the ice or asphalt is the same as having cookie sheets underneath your car tires

check out mcmaster carr co. aluminum grating. you can buy different styles and lengths etc. and maybe cut pieces to bolt to the tracks for added traction. good luck, j.b.

Are they to heavy or you just sit and tread water with plastic?

They are not heavy at all, they are actually the lightest option as far as tracks go. They just do not perform well on hard surfaces and they do not work at all in the water.
